About Daniel Sponenburg
Daniel Sponenburg has been providing Piano Service since 1973 and has been an RPT member of the Piano Technicians Guild since 1982. He worked for many years as a Concert Piano Technician in the New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania areas servicing pianos for Radio City Music Hall, RCA Studios, The David Letterman Show, The Apollo Theater, The Winter Garden, The Gershwin, Carnegie Hall, The Waldorf Astoria, and the World Trade Center among many others.
Piano technical training was received at Pennsylvania State University, Oberlin Music Conservatory, Steinway, Yamaha, Mason and Hamlin, Kimball International, and many Piano Technician Guild Regional and National Conventions. Dan is skilled in all aspects of piano repair, tuning (including historical tuning), voicing, and rebuilding. All tuning is done aurally and ambidextrously using a unique method of tuning geometry and auralization.
Musically, Dan performs piano locally for The Rotary Club, of which he is a member, for charity groups, fund raisers, and does "sing-along" at schools and nursing homes. He also sings baritone and bass with various a cappella church choirs and is a reader and cantor in his home church.
Dan currently resides in Pottsville, Pennsylvania with his wife, two daughters and two cats.
*Note: Registered Piano Technicians (RPTs) are those members of PTG who have passed a series of stringent examinations on the maintenance, repair, and tuning of pianos.
